Well, Apple won't get any more money from me if I cannot remove the restraints of DRM. There are other means, Amazon, CD's, etc.
It almost don't matter to me, because I got almost every song I want.
The only reason I started using itunes, was because back then, they was the only source of such a wide selection of music for download that I knew of. And because of JHYMN. Plus their album flip-thru is pretty cool _________________ I like to rock!!

I agree, buying your music you want to remove the DRM or better yet, buy it without any. For a subscription model, removing the DRM is akin to stealing it IMO. So, I don't support removing DRM on rented or subscription material. But with a LOT of what I buy, I don't necessarily care to own it. I'm just as happy to have it on my iPod for a few months and then get something new. A subscription model would be perfect for that. You can always get new music that way. But, if you buy less than 130 songs a year, well, then the subscription model isn't really worth it. _________________ READ THE FAQ |

Well, it's certainly not going to do it for me. I'm in the same boat as markofkane. Nothing left to buy.
If I was just starting out, on the other hand, a subscription model would have been nice. But what if ten years from now, they did away with it? Have to go back and pay twice for what they took away. |

Well, sorry DRMBytes, but no subscription model.
But I will say that I've been buying more songs and albums from Amazon. It helps that each day, they have that deal. The other day, it was $1.99 (no tax) for Radiohead's "OK Computer"
I still have that $51 credit on my iTunes account.
I will say that the new nanos look nice. Tempting, but waiting to see how iTunes 8.0 pans out before making the jump. |

So I see. WTF. Oh well. Still not buying shit from their store. Although, admittedly, I'm sort of tempted to check out their HD tv shows. I may grab one and check it out. 3 bucks per episode...typical 22 episodes per season...wait, that doesn't work out. 65 bucks for a season? I can get most season shows on Blu-ray for 40 or so. Hmmmm, I think they need a lesson in economics. _________________ READ THE FAQ |

As a Blu-Ray owner here, I've been buying more on that format. Just got Weeds Seasons 2 and 3 for under $40 (from Amazon). Even though I can't convert them to iPod format (not that I'd want to, but it would eventually be a nice option to have), it's that cost per episode that turns me off as well. |

Understand I said you can convert them. I never once, however, said it would be fast. But it can be done. RipBot converts everything to AVC and has profiles for PSP, iPod, etc. Let it run overnight and you'll have what you're looking for. _________________ READ THE FAQ |

Oh, with 30-50gb of space, I don't expect ANY Blu-Ray ripping software to be fast. |

Ripping isn't the problem. It's re-encoding that's the issue. In a year or so this process will be much easier. I doubt any faster, but, there is a tool coming that will simplify things a lot. Anyway, this isn't the right forum for Blu-ray discussions. Nevertheless, I hate all DRM and am not a fan of the bullshit on my Blu-rays. _________________ READ THE FAQ |

I noticed your C&D problems, guys.
Get an overseas host, like this one. Hosting in Canada is also possible; Canada has no DMCA-like bill. These guys shouldn't have a problem. _________________

There's a massive difference between this and a torrent tracker. It took Canada three years to bring a lawsuit against Demonoid (and they got off), so Requiem should be in the clear. Ireland has similar laws as I recall.
Oh, right, one last thing: If all else fails, call these guys up. They host Wikileaks and The Pirate Bay. You will not have a problem. _________________

So the iron fisted facism of Apple descends upon the populace once more. Take note Apple: Consumers shall prevail...One word: Betamax!
