This information comes to you from ejoness and dvl and is one of the methods that can be used by Mac users to free their music from DRM. Since QTFU6 is Windows only, we don't want to leave our Mac users out in the cold. NOTE: This is NOT lossless but it seems to be a better option than burning and ripping CD's.
this is going to be a painfully slow process but i think i found a workaround
1. make sure your itunes and quicktime is up to date.
2. open imovie and make a new project.
3. import the protected song.
oh by the way the file in the media folder is an aiff but the header is corrupted to not be a true aiff yet.
4. then export the movie to quicktime expert settings
5. make sure to export as sound to aiff
6. under options make sure you 44.1 khz for the sampling rate and linear pcm as the format 16 bits as the sample size.
7. wait for the export to happen.
Additional information from dvl:
the latest iMovie doesn't allow you to export an audio-only movie when the audio is protected. However, you can import a random piece of video you have (whatever the length), set the clip volume to 0, and there you go !
Thanks to ejonesss and dvl for this method! |
